THE POWER OF ONE THING CHANGING EVERYTHING!!

Wuss good people? Anyways, so I was going through one of the blogs I mess with, and I found an interesting piece that I should share with y'all. This is an article by Jeremy Stangroom and I got it from thethinkmovement.com.

Okay, so here’s a thing.

Suppose an 18 year old fella takes some photographs of his 17 year old girlfriend in various states of undress. Not pornographic, but not artistic (so we’re talking mild readers’ wives type stuff). She is not coerced in any way, has no objections to him possessing the photographs, and he will never show them to anybody else.

They split up a few years later. She’s happy for him to keep the photographs. Fast forward 25 years. He still possesses the photographs. He’s now in his mid-40s, and he hasn’t been in touch with his old girlfriend for some 20 years, so he has no idea whether she’d mind that he still has the photos (of course, he recognises that she might mind).

So various questions arise:

1. Is it morally wrong for a man in his mid-40s to be looking at naked photos of his 17 year old ex-girlfriend taken 25 years previously? (I’m not interested in whether it is ’sad’, ‘pathetic’, etc).

2. If it is morally wrong, was it wrong when he was 18?

3. If not, is it the age difference that makes it morally wrong? If it is the age difference, how old was he when he started to behave immorally?

4. If not (2 or 3), is it the fact that he can no longer assume her consent? If so, suppose he contacts her, and finds out that she doesn’t mind. Is it okay then?

5. If it still wrong, and it isn’t the age difference, is it because she is not now able to consent for her 17 year old self? (So the thought here is that her 17 year old self would not have consented to the 45 year old version of her boyfriend looking at the photos.)

Generally, what should he do with the photographs? Destroy them? (I’m not interested in the legal status of said photographs. Just the moral question.)

THE POWER OF THE BRAIN

Guys, y'all sure y'all like that??? hahahaha

3 STARS: CADILLAC RECORDS

So before I start typing away, I would like to let people know that the executive producer of this movie is "Mrs. Beyonce Knowles Carter"...yup, looks like the talented Beyonce is getting up to new and better things, interesting too. Anyways, at first, I wasnt really going to pay attention to this movie but im glad I did. This movie is well written and the story is really interesting and all the actors did pretty well. Columbus Short gives a crazy performance, Mos Def also comes through big time and in my opinion, this is Beyonce's best performance to date. I wasn't that convinced with her acting in the past but after "Dreamgirls", I respected her acting and after this, I have no doubt in my mind that she can win an award for acting. Anyways, the story is interesting, informative and also teaches us a few things about the history of music, and oh yeah, i can't forget Adrien Brody, he does a great job carrying the movie and Jeffrey Wright is back with heat, great performances overall. It's definitely worth your money and you won't be disappointed.

3 1/2 STARS: THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON

Aiight, so its that time again...the priceless creativity movie reviews. There's never been a movie like this one before and the producers and director went all out on this flick. The concept is fantastic and the technology that's been put into this movie is beyond my imagination. The movie is crazy, the script is up to par, Taraj P. Henson gives her best performance to date and everything else falls into place. Although no one really gives an oscar performance in my opinion, everyone gives their best. This movie definitely needs to be checked out and trust me, you will not be disappointed with it. Anyways, I aint tryna put to many words into this, just go peep it and enjoy the flick. Shout outs to Brad Pitt.

TRIANGLE OF LIFE

During the earthquake(s) this year in china, more than a few students and other civilians were seriously injured or killed by the tables they were hiding under. Haishan Deng has a definite swipe of a solution for instances such as these. Using the physics of the “Triangle of Life” Deng presents: the “Life Desk.”

The Life Desk is open for learning during regular times, and closed for danger during times of trouble. The main structure is high strength steel and nylon board, while the side structure is molten steel molded round to disperse stress.

Deng has already interviewed with the Bureau of Education in China and they will be producing a limited amount of these desks to try them out in schools. The cost of one desk is 80 Euro - anyone know how much a regular, non-earthquake table costs?
